What You Need to Get a Medicare Supplement Plan in California

A prerequisite for getting a California Medicare Supplemental Insurance plan, is that you sign up for Medicare parts A and B. It is important to know the difference between both parts. They have a lot to do with the coverage in the supplemental plans. Part A of Medicare addresses the costs of going to hospital. This includes emergencies and the cost of an extended stay. This may only be overnight, but it could be any inpatient care including surgeries. Part B of Medicare addresses outpatient care. This includes a visit to the doctor and outpatient surgeries that are performed at a doctor’s office.

Generally, it is the costs of a hospital stay that can result in large medical bills versus simply going to your doctor. It is for this reason that Plans F & G are the most popular supplemental insurance plans. These California Medicare Supplement Ins plans will cover most if not all of the Medicare gap in Part A, and it will pay for most of your expenses, if you need to visit a hospital. You will may have to pay the balance owed from doctor’s visits and outpatient care that Medicare Part B does not cover depending on the plan that you choose. Of course, the benefit of this is that outpatient care tends to be less expensive, and the money saved on lower premiums is attractive to many people.
